Ethical Values are intrinsically linked with an ability to use critical thinking as it relates to cultural issues affecting clients, ethics within the field of counseling, and relevant therapeutic issues.  In this workshop, we will look at the power differential within the therapist-client relationship, clarify critical thinking skills as it relates to ethics, and discuss current issues through a critical lens.  As we study ethical codes as lived wisdom, we will apply these to important prevailing issues affecting our culture and field.  This workshop’s emphasis is on critical thinking skills, which includes listening, speaking, and dialoguing with heartfelt compassion and respect.

In this workshop, you will:

**Describe the power differential within the therapist-client relationship

**Define critical thinking as it relates to ethics, integrity, and responsibility to clients

**Discuss relevant therapeutic issues through a critical lens

**Look at ways to empower clients

**Study ethical codes as lived wisdom
